Dining Out In The NorthWest (DO IT NW) started in Portland with the weekly, hour-long ‘Dining Out’ radio show hosted by Scott Neuman. The show aired on KOTK and KBNP for 10 years. It was designed to encourage the people of the Northwest to go out and eat, dining at their local restaurants to help benefit our economy.
Sometimes overlooked, restaurants are truly the cornerstone of the Northwest economy. Oregon restaurant sales alone are nearly $7 billion per year, with more than 180,000 people employed in the state. The impact on our economy is huge.
As our association of restaurants has grown over the years, now at more than 700, Dining Out In The NorthWest has grown as well. DO IT NW now includes the web, television, social media and more. However, the message continues to be the same. Keeping your dining experiences local will help feed our Northwest economy.
